NaNoWriMo: Zoonosis Day 7

We had a friend over this evening, and so I got almost nothing done on the story.  Today’s total was just 162 words, for a total of 11,273 words.  Here’s today’s snippet:

José’s mother eyed him reproachfully as he entered the weedy courtyard of the hotel.

“You know we were waiting for you for ten minutes already,” she said.

“Yes Mama,” said José, “but I couldn’t make Ramón follow me.”

She sighed. “It seems to me that every time something goes wrong, you blame it on that dog. José, you’re eight years old, and it’s time you start being a little more responsible.”
